Maple and Backyard News

Maple News

All roads lead to the pandemic, it seems. Even in maple, the news is just thick with it. Some of the news is bad: a Vermont maple producer, for example, has been forced to sell his operation because of the extended, COVID-related Canadian border closure. Some of the news is heartwarming: after a tough spring, Quebec maple has donated 10,000 cans of maple syrup to food banks.

But most of the news is just about food! For what is more comforting than the taste of maple? For Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the answer is maple syrup infused with tequila. For the rest of us, there are salads: Maple Sesame Cabbage Slaw and Greek Tortellini with Grilled Stone Fruit, to be specific. And for dessert: Black Bean and Maple CookiesGrilled Peaches with Vanilla Mascarpone, Summer Fruit Tart with Vanilla Custard and Pecan Oat Crust, and the most beautiful thing we’ve ever seen in our whole entire lives: a Blackberry and Rose Tart. If it tastes half as good as it looks, it’ll be quite a find, right?

But don’t forget the most important meal of the day: Maple Cinnamon Breakfast Quinoa or Puffed Rice, Pecan and Maple Granola for breakfast anyone?

Backyard News

We are still coming up with ways to transform our backyards this summer, from the ordinary (a new backyard hammock acquisition) to the extraordinary: turning the backyard into a water parks, home theatre, or campground. But it’s not all about leisure. Enter: the backyard home office, a backyard spa business, and backyard mission trips!

For Tiger Woods, the backyard is a place for an epic golf training center. For bug-lovers, it’s a place to celebrate National Moth Week (we missed it!). And for some kids, it’s the situs of personalized backyard soccer camps.

In Maine, hundreds of families camped apart together (or together apart) in the first ever backyard camp out while many betrothed plan backyard weddings in Pennsylvania. And all over the world, folks are seeing the comet  NEOWISE from their backyards!

And with that, let’s get back to the backyard!
