Maple News

Time to open up another can of maple news! The maple industry continues to innovate and delight with travel-sized, TSA approved Maple to Go hitting the US market and Foray’s Cannabis-Infused Hard Maple Caramels arriving in Canada. Ohio, Virginia and Vermont  are promoting the industry through maple events this fall. And there’s a new maple pest on the horizon: enter the spotted lanternfly (and here). The Supreme Court of Canada will hear an appeal in the great Canadian maple heist case, and a teenage maple entrepreneur makes good on his passion for making syrup.

Certainly, we are all out of energy at this point, but does anyone even make and eat “energy bites?” Because they all contain maple, apparently (and here). Also in the “too tired to cook” category: Pho-Inspired Flank Steak Wraps with Maple. But lest ye think we will ever lose the will to lash out randomly on the internet, enter the Great Maple Chai Latte Controversy of 2020 on Twitter. Hey, it’s a distraction!

But some distractions have more staying power: take food and drink. Whether you keep it simple with Maple Sweetened Winter Squash, kick up the health with Maple Ginger Tofu, aim to impress with Figs and Pistachio Biscuits, or work your way joyfully (slowly!) through each of these fifteen maple cocktail recipes perfect for fall, our standby syrup makes it delish. And that, my friends, is something you can rely on!

Backyard News

Back to the backyard. In Vermont, there is a thing called a COVID fire now. (It’s when you burn stuff in your backyard so you can safely socialize.) In Canada, a scout leader who tested positive for the virus camps in his backyard to isolate from his family. And here’s how the rich do quarantine in Washington. Wondering why we are all at each other’s throats? Backyard Astronomer says Mars has never been closer. You can leave now, God of War!
