The holidays are abundant with opportunities to cook and bake with (and eat) maple! Here are our picks from the last few weeks: Maple, Browned Butter Apple Pie, Saturday Morning Challah French Toast, Tuscan Holiday Bread Pudding, Brown Sugar Maple Cookies, Slow Cooked Maple Brown Sugar Ham, Wild Rice Pudding and Butternut, Orange and Sage Galette. You can wash that all down with our state’s signature cocktail—according to at least one source—the Old Vermont.
Opportunities to travel, of course, are NOT abundant right now. Oh, but when they are, we’ll see you at this Nova Scotia sugar camp. Isn’t that the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen?
Backyard News
Back in the backyard, we’re still at it, making table centerpieces from backyard greens, wondering if we should compost our turkey scraps, and noticing a sudden surge of evening grosbeaks. That is, if we’re not whiling away quarantine by constructing epic backyard gyms or airplanes.
